Promote Creative Thinking
We believe creativity and imagination are the hope for a positive future.
Why? Because right now is a tipping point in human history of seemingly uncontrollable change when the intersection of global problems, an alarming decline of student interest in science and technology and a “crisis in creativity” calls on teachers and parents, business and government leaders to empower the incalculable assets of human ingenuity to make the world a better, safer and more prosperous place for everyone.
Welcome to The imagine it! Project, we’re glad you’re here…watch this!

Over the last 20 years I have “found in myself that thing I love to do” and I’m fortunate now to apply my experience to the creation of new media for education.
I have produced and directed 100+ hours of prime time broadcast programs including: “CBS: The First Fifty Years”, the TBS special Warner Bros. “75 Years of Laughter” hosted by Billy Crystal, “In Search of Dr. Seuss”, starring Robin Williams and Billy Crystal, which was nominated for 7 prime time Emmy® Awards and the soon to be released “For Love of Liberty: The Story of America’s Black Patriots” which is hosted by Halle Barry and introduced by Colin Powell.
I am co-founder and director of The imagine it! Project a multimedia educational initiative about how people change the world through creativity, imagination and innovation.
I earned a BFA in Design at the California College of the Arts, an MFA in film production at UCLA, founded and managed three media production companies and have produced, directed and/or managed some $50 million of media production over the course of my professional career.

I believe “You Get What You Give.”
Over the years this philosophy has made all the difference–from inspiring people to realize their entrepreneurial dreams to transforming education.
Along with a terrific crew, I ventured ‘on the road’ for “The Entrepreneurs! Tour of America.” The Tour has traveled over 120,000 miles to 48 states, 120 cities producing, broadcasting and webcasting live video programs featuring over 1,500 of America’s visionaries. I’ve produced video-based programming for Ernst & Young’s international “Entrepreneur of the Year” awards including live broadcast and interactive webcast interviews with the world’s leading entrepreneurs from Palm Springs, CA to a global audience. I was executive producer and on-air host of “Living the American Dream,” a nationally syndicated radio and video webcast program.
I wrote a book called Just Say YES!, which looking back was one of those “good experiences” that helped me I write my second book “Integration of New Media in Education.”
Along with Rudy Poe, I am proud to have produced the acclaimed documentary film Mr. K: A Common Man with Uncommon Vision, the story of Ewing Marion Kauffman entrepreneur and owner of the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball®. The film is hosted by Academy Award® winning actor Chris Cooper and has won numerous international awards including several Emmys®.
I co-founded The imagine it! Project, a multimedia educational initiative about how people change the world through creativity and imagination.
Originally from Toronto, Canada, I am a graduate of Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts & Sciences in Journalism and Communications.
From the first day I stepped into a classroom at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, I was surprised how “programmed” my students were. They waited for me to tell them what to do and they worried about what I wanted, not what they could do using their own creativity and imagination. For the past seven years, helping students find their inner child who knows no limits and questions everything has become my passion. That is why I was excited and flattered when Richard Tavener and Rudy Poe invited me to join The imagine it! Project team.
As Cintas Professor of Entrepreneurship at Miami Univerisity and a partner in the consulting firm Exit Strategies, Inc., I have tried to bring “the power of imagination” to students and adults alike. I’ve delivered workshops, covering the same principles associated with The imagine it! Project, to corporate, non-profit and public sector audiences worldwide.
Prior to joining the Miami faculty, I explored the relationship between innovation, opportunity recognition and entrepreneurship as VP for Policy and Community at the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, Missouri and as Director of Economic Development and Commerce Policy Studies at the National Governors Association in Washington, DC.
I serve as technical consultant to The imagine it! Project and am the principal author of the companion books which supplement the imagine it! film series.
Born in Richmond, Virginia I earned a B.A. in American Government at the University of Virginia and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science at The John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
