Thought Leaders

Below are a few excerpts from ImagineIt!'s media library of creativity and innovation thought leaders
collected over the past three years.  Clips from the media library were initially used to build awareness
about the importance of creative thinking and its role in ensuring a brighter future for society and the
economy.  The media library is also used throughout ImagineIt!'s education and corporate curricula to
illustrate critical principles and introduce participants to creative role models.
Featured Thought Leader: Dr. George
Land, Author, Breakpoint and Beyond,
and Transformation Theory

We are featuring Dr. Land based on his landmark
study of 1600 children over a 10 year period.
Hoping to determine whether creativity was
inherited or learned, Dr. Land initially tested the
1600 young subjects when then were 3-5 years
old.  Using a series of eight divergent creativity
instruments, Land observed that 98 percent of
the subjects were considered creative geniuses.
When he retested this cohort five years later,
only 32 percent of the subjects qualified as
creative geniuses.  By age 15, that percentage
dropped to 10 percent.

Dr. Land's "aha moment" came when he
discerned the real issue is not whether creativity
is inherited or learned.  More importantly, it is
UNLEARNED.  ImagineIt!'s mission of helping
individuals of all ages rediscover their inner child
is in large part a response to Dr. Land's research.

In 2010, Dr. Land agreed to a video interview
with ImagineIt!  In the following excerpt he
shares his excitement about what he sees as the
next generation's creative response to the
challenges of our time.
